Frozen Footrace (Polar Plunge!)

COME CHILL.

Kick off Special Olympics Pennsylvania’s 2024-2025 Polar Plunge season in Erie Pennsylvania! This year, we’ll be celebrating 10 YEARS of plunging into Lake Erie! Throughout the plunge season, Special Olympics Pennsylvania will host eight plunges around the keystone state.

So, create your team and join thousands of plungers around the state in making a splash to support our athletes.

Join us for the first ever Frozen Footrace 5K! Warm-up with a 5K around Presque Isle at 10 AM before plunging into the frigid water at 12 PM!

Race for the Ribbon

This is NOT a BWT race, but they’re doing stuff for cancer research, so I’m kinda in favor of this.

Anticipate a small event, and they’re handling timing themselves.  I’m supporting them as much as I can, and I’d appreciate your support as well.

Race Reason

Race for the Ribbon is a 5k run/walk hosted by five Gannon University Doctor of Physical Therapy students to raise money to donate to Linked by Pink. Linked by Pink is an organization in Erie PA which supports individuals who have been diagnosed with breast cancer with many aspects of their lives including finances, mental health, and so much more.

Course

This race takes place at Harborcreek Community Park in Harborcreek, PA on September 14th 2024 at 9:00 am. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome!

Registration

Race day registrations are accepted at $25. A t-shirt will be included if registration is received by August 24th. This event will be timed using RaceDay Mobile Timing. Parking is available at the large Firman Road parking lot. Registration and packet pick up begins at 8:00 am near the concession stand and restrooms with the race beginning promptly at 9:00 am. Water and healthy snacks will be provided for runners and walkers prior to and following their race.

Awards

Awards will be given to the top three male and top three female finishers. You will be racing for the ribbon through different terrains including blacktop, grass, and hiking trails so come prepared with the appropriate attire! Please come out to support the Gannon University students in raising money for an excellent cause!

Dan Rice 5k

Top overall finishers, male and female, will receive plaques. Second and third overall finishers, male and female, will receive plaques. Top three finishers in each age group will receive plaques.

 

Paper applications are accepted by mail at: George Drushel, 1024 Pine Tree Dr., Girard, PA 16417. Day of Event Registration begins at 7:00 AM at Girard Borough Hall, Main St., Rte 20, Girard, PA. $23 if registering on race day, Saturday, August 3, 2024.

Moonglow Mile

Description

ENJOY North East will host the MoonGLOW Mile, a family fun & glow run, on Sunday, April 7. The one-mile race will start at 8 pm at Heard Park and follow the footprint of the Mistletoe Mile.

Finish is along Gibson Park and participants can stay in the park afterward to enjoy donut holes by Little Shop of Donuts, music and more.

Entry is $20 for adults; $10 for kids ages 6-12, free for ages 5 and under and includes glow-in-the dark race t-shirt and glow bracelets/necklaces.

This is a FUN RUN, so feel free to dress up and show us how you glow.

Register by 03/23/2024 to ensure a t-shirt.

Muddy Bunny

There are two trail events:

1. a short easy flat not to muddy long 5k on a wide trail around the reservoir.

2. a longer harder single track trail run that is much muddier/ not flat 5-7 miles on one side of the reservoir.

Bolt Back to School 5k

Classic Out & Back 5k at Erie’s own Beach 1

Do Good Inc Bolt Back to School 5k Inaugural 5K will provide students in need in local Erie elementary schools with backpacks, paper, glue, crayons, binders, folders, clothing, food, and other needed school supplies. Our goal is to make the start of the 2024 school year the best one yet for the kids, teachers and schools in need!
